Metabolic insights into tumor pathogenesis: Unveiling pan-cancer metabolism and the potential of untargeted metabolomics
- First Published: 26 September 2023

The research of cancer metabolism heterogeneity seeks to identify common metabolic pathways and processes that are shared across different types of cancer, mainly including specimen collection, data generation, and data analysis. This approach can avoid tumor heterogeneity and present a comprehensive metabolic panorama of tumors, thus helping to identify metabolic targets relevant to multiple cancer types and search for more sensitive markers to develop more broadly effective therapies.

The molecular mechanism of Xiaoxuming decoction in the treatment of ischemic stroke based on network pharmacology and molecular docking
- First Published: 08 September 2023

Xiaoxuming decoction, a traditional Chinese medicine utilized for the treatment of ischemic stroke (IS). We use network pharmacology and molecular docking to identify active compounds, key targets, and underlying mechanisms that underpin the therapeutic effects of Xiaoxuming decoction in IS. This study enhances our comprehension of IS treatment and provide a broader perspective on complex mechanisms of disease and drug action.

The epidemiological and clinical characteristics of COVID-19 patients admitted to a Fangcang shelter hospital in Beijing before the change in China's prevention and control policy
- First Published: 31 July 2023

In November 2022, a large number of Omicron infections suddenly appeared in Beijing, and we collected a series of epidemiology and clinical indexes to analyze the characteristics of the epidemic wave. We found that most mild and asymptomatic cases did not need treatment, indicating that home isolation is correct and feasible.

Chemoimmunotherapy for esophageal squamous cell carcinoma—Summary and discussion of recent clinical trials
- First Published: 14 August 2023

A large majority of clinical trials demonstrate the promising results of the addition of immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) to the existing treatment strategy for patients with advanced or metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Therefore, this article aims to discuss the results of these trials and to highlight the changes and future of ESCC treatment.

Computational study unravels inhibitory potential of epicatechin gallate against inflammatory and pyroptosis-associated mediators in COVID-19
- First Published: 05 July 2023

SARS-CoV-2 causing coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) triggers cytokine storm through various inflammatory mediators. Epicatechin gallate (ECG) has potential to bind various cytokines as well as pyroptosis-associated proteins like caspases and BAX. Therefore ECG could be a potential drug to subvert cytokine storm and pyroptosis during COVID-19.
Causality between COVID-19 and female reproductive function: A Mendelian randomization study
- First Published: 07 August 2023

The two-sample Mendelian randomization and linkage disequilibrium score regression analyses revealed no association between coronavirus disease 2019 and estradiol levels, menstruation, and female infertility. However, the infection may causally influence sex hormone-binding globulin and total testosterone levels in females, while its impact on female reproductive function appears to be largely independent of the disease severity.
