Relationship Between Best Tumor Shrinkage and Progression-Free Survival and Overall Survival in Patients With Progressive Midgut Neuroendocrine Tumors Treated With [177Lu]Lu-DOTA-TATE: Ad Hoc Analysis of the Phase III NETTER-1 Trial

We analyzed data from the phase III NETTER-1 study of 177Lu‑DOTATATE for patients with advanced midgut neuroendocrine tumors to explore whether tumor shrinkage is associated with durable efficacy. Although patients receiving 177Lu‑DOTATATE had a progression-free survival (PFS) benefit, no obvious association between best tumor shrinkage and PFS or overall survival was evident. Our results suggest that disease stabilization is an acceptable outcome of 177Lu‑DOTATATE treatment and should not lead to early termination of peptide receptor radionuclide therapy.

Evaluation of Integrin Glycovariants as Biomarkers of Metastasis, Invasion, and Therapy Stratification in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

There are scarce data about integrin glycosylation in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma. In this study, glycosylation of ITGA2, ITGA3, ITGA5, ITGA6, ITGB1, and ITGB4 was investigated in intraoperative tissue samples using lectin-bioaffinity assays. While integrin glycovariants are abundant in HNSCC tumors and ITGB1-WFL was associated with invasiveness, integrin glycovariants did not directly correlate with metastatic behavior.

Predictive Value of Radiographic Tumor Burden Score in Hepatocellular Carcinoma Within Milan Criteria After Microwave Ablation: Implications for Long-Term Outcomes and Treatment Planning

TBS proves to be a valuable predictor for the long-term outcomes of HCC patients meeting Milan criteria after MWA. A higher TBS is associated with a lower long-term survival rate. Notably, among HCC patients meeting Milan criteria, those with TBS > 3 exhibited an extended median RFS time after LMWA treatment.

Deciphering the Role of Putative Novel miRNAs Encoded From the Newly Found Genomic Regions of T2T-CHM13 in the Progression of Collecting Duct Renal Cell Carcinoma

We identified 156 novel miRNAs through de novo prediction in the newly discovered genomic regions of T2T-CHM13. These miRNAs target 345 protein-coding genes that are downregulated in collecting duct renal cell carcinoma (cdRCC). The miRNAs may play a role in the disease by altering several key tumor suppressor pathways and targeting multiple tumor suppressor genes.

Initial Feasibility and Acceptability of Cancer Pain 101: An Interdisciplinary, Single-Session, Telehealth Intervention for Patients With Cancer-Related Pain

To improve access to comprehensive pain management, an interdisciplinary team developed a 90-min, single-session, telehealth intervention that combines medical education with behavioral pain treatment modified for patients with cancer. In an open, single-arm pilot study, the intervention was found to be moderately feasible, highly acceptable, and participants described reduced fear regarding opioid use, increased adoption of behavioral pain management strategies, and appreciation for the convenience of telehealth.

Hypoxia and Hypoxia-Reoxygenation Potentiate Helicobacter pylori Infection and Gastric Epithelial Cell Proliferation

Hypoxia and hypoxia-reoxygenation upregulate CEACAM6. It potentiates ROS generation via NOX4. Moreover, CEACAM6 upregulation facilitates H. pylori adhesion to hypoxic gastric epithelial cells, establishes infection leading to the aggressiveness of gastric cancer.

Lack of Routine Health Care Among Adult Survivors of Childhood, Adolescent, and Young Adult Cancers (CAYA): A Nationally Representative Study of 4300 Survivors

We examined routine health care (no routine checkup in the past year) among a nationally representative sample of childhood, adolescent, and young adult (CAYA) cancer survivors at different life stages. A higher proportion of young adults did not receive routine health care or have a personal doctor, compared to middle-aged or older CAYA survivors. In multivariable models, being a young adult was strongly associated with (1) not receiving routine health care and (2) not having a personal doctor.

Opportunistic Salpingectomy in Non-Gynecologic Surgeries: Barriers and Facilitators From a Healthcare Provider Perspective

Key barriers to OS implementation in non-gynecological surgeries include unclear invoicing and increased workload, while significant facilitators are the availability of counseling materials and education on counseling and technical performance of OS. Addressing these barriers and leveraging facilitators could enhance OS adoption, potentially reducing ovarian cancer incidence.

Assessing NODM Patients for Early PDAC Diagnosis: Incidence of NODM Before PDAC Diagnosis and Subsequent PDAC Risk

Evaluation of New-Onset Diabetes Mellitus (NODM) for Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma at the onset of NODM and subsequent surveillance for 3–12 years would be a potential strategy for early diagnosis and improved outcomes in patients with pancreatic cancer.

Cardiovascular Medication and Health Service Use in Individuals With Cancer: A Retrospective Population-Based Cohort Study

This study found no difference in cardiovascular disease (CVD) medication use between cancer and the general population. Despite no differences in medication use, the study found higher health service utilisation in individuals with cancer and CVD, suggesting higher need burden and/or limited care integration.

Role of Exosome in Solid Cancer Progression and Its Potential Therapeutics in Cancer Treatment

Exosomes are small extracellular vesicles that facilitate cellular communication and play a significant role in cancer progression by transferring molecules like miRNA and lncRNA within the tumor microenvironment. This review explores how exosomes derived from various cells influence solid cancer growth by activating pathways critical to tumor proliferation and metastasis. Understanding these interactions may reveal new therapeutic approaches for treating solid tumors.

Associations Between Personality Traits and Longitudinal Change in Physical Function in Survivors of Childhood Cancer

Exercise interventions for survivors of childhood cancer focus on improving cardiovascular fitness and muscle strength but often do not consider personality factors that influence longitudinal maintenance of function. In this study of longitudinal performance change after participation in exercise intervention in survivors, associations were observed between higher levels of conscientiousness and improvement in walking speed ~4 years post-exercise intervention.

Association Between Pre-Diagnostic Delay and Survival Among Patients With Esophageal and Gastric Cancer Treated With Curative Intent During the COVID19 Pandemic

The COVID19 pandemic caused significant diagnostic delay for patients presenting with curative gastroesophageal and gastric cancer. The lack of correlation of pre-diagnostic interval with OS may reflect underlying tumor biology as the driving force that determines prognosis.

Outcome of Patients With Cancer-Associated Pulmonary Embolism: Results From the Regional Pulmonary Embolism Registry

The results of our investigation have shown that patients with newly diagnosed malignant disease with acute PE and patients with known malignant disease and PE had much higher hospital mortality and more severe acute PE presentation than patients without malignant disease. We have also shown that patients with known malignant disease had a lower chance of thrombolysis treatment than patients without malignant disease.
