8-oxoguanine DNA glycosylase 1 (OGG1) has emerged as a promising multifunctional therapeutic target for the treatment of oxidative DNA damage-related life-limiting diseases, particularly incurable inflammations, malignant tumors, and age-related disorders, due to its crucial multifunctional role in regulating oxidative DNA damage. As a potential therapeutic target, inhibiting OGG1 may provide a novel approach to prevent and treat inflammation and cancer, while activating OGG1 could be a strategy to prevent age-related disorders.
