The rs4686434 variant in the fetuin B (FETUB) locus is associated with intrahepatic triglyceride content in obese Chinese adults: 中国肥胖成年人FETUB基因 rs4686434遗传变异与肝内甘油三酯含量的关联性研究
- Pages: 916-925
- First Published: 19 April 2018
Highlights
- The minor allele G for fetuin B (FETUB) rs4686434 was significantly associated with decreased intrahepatic triglyceride (IHTG) content.
- There was a significant joint effect between FETUB rs4686434 and patatin-like phospholipase domain containing 3 (PNPLA3) rs738409 on IHTG content.
Optimal body mass index cut-off points for prediction of incident diabetes in a Chinese population: 中国人群中用于预测糖尿病的最优体质指数
- Pages: 926-933
- First Published: 26 May 2018
Highlights
- There is clear consensus that population-specific obesity classification should be identified, but body mass index (BMI) cut-off points have not been determined for assessing diabetes risk in Chinese participants.
- This study found that age- and sex-specific BMI cut-off points for assessing Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) risk, but not a unit cut-off point for the whole population, should be considered in future T2DM risk assessments in a Chinese population.
Association of characteristics of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus with discordant values of fasting glucose and HbA1c: 空腹血糖与糖化血红蛋白值之间的不一致现象与2型糖尿病患者特征之间的关系
- Pages: 934-941
- First Published: 10 July 2018
Highlights
- Fasting blood glucose and HbA1c values do not match in almost 25% of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in primary care practices.
- Our analysis shows that the odds of having discordant glucose and HbA1c values is related to characteristics of people with T2DM (including age, sex, diabetes duration, body mass index), glucose-lowering drug treatment, comorbidity (liver disease, hypertension, depression), and complications (neuropathy, retinopathy, low estimated glomerular filtration rate).

Tackling clinical inertia: Use of coproduction to improve patient engagement: 解决临床惰性:利用共同合作提高患者的参与度
- Pages: 942-947
- First Published: 22 June 2018
Highlights
- Despite the advent of newer agents for the management of diabetes, the number of people with diabetes hitting all clinical targets remains small.
- In this review we explore the role that communication plays in defining and achieving shared goals of importance to the health care provider–patient team. This dyad deals with acknowledging the complexity of diabetes management in the context of everyday life, and encourages the person with diabetes to take full ownership of their disease, thereby improving outcomes.

- First Published: 19 April 2018
Highlights
- The present study is the first to assess cognitive functioning in a sample of Chinese pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM).
- Greater exposure to hyperglycemia over time was associated with lower visuospatial perception.
- Early exposure to severe hypoglycemia had negative effects on visual memory.
Negative association between serum aryl hydrocarbon receptor concentrations and β-cell function in patients with no history of diabetes undergoing coronary angiography: 在曾接受冠状动脉造影但无糖尿病史的患者中血清芳香烃受体浓度与β细胞功能呈负相关
- Pages: 958-964
- First Published: 26 May 2018
Highlights
- Abnormal glucose regulation, determined by oral glucose tolerance tests, was independently associated with serum aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) concentrations in subjects with no history of diabetes.
- Serum AhR concentrations were negatively associated with β-cell function, independent of several confounders, including insulin resistance.
Structured tool to improve clinical outcomes of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients: A randomized controlled trial: 改善2型糖尿病患者临床结果的结构化工具:一项随机对照试验
- Pages: 965-976
- First Published: 07 June 2018
Highlights
- This study has shown the benefits of pharmacists using the Simpler tool to make consistent, individualized, evidence-based interventions in the clinical management of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
- Qualified pharmacists in community or hospital settings with or without prior formal diabetes training can be trained to use the tool to deliver quality diabetes care.
- The study findings may be generalized to studies that recruit participants with similar inclusion and exclusion criteria and with direct access to a prescriber.
