Halide perovskites: A dark horse for direct X-ray imaging
- First Published: 17 November 2020

Halide perovskites are emerging as a dark horse for direct X-ray imaging. Herein, recent advances in material engineering of perovskites toward X-ray detection are critically reviewed, along with the sharpening correlation between the intrinsic properties of perovskites and the key performance metrics of X-ray detectors. We survey and dissect this fast-developing field and highlight the remaining bottlenecks in the future development.
Reality or fantasy—Perovskite semiconductor laser diodes
- First Published: 27 January 2021

Achieving electrically pumped perovskite semiconductor laser requires a low excitation threshold and high electrical-to-optical conversion efficiency. Herein, the recent progress of optically pumped perovskite lasers is reviewed, and the obstacles preventing the fabrication of perovskite laser diodes are also investigated. From our studies, it is expected the possibility to obtain electrically driven perovskite lasers.
Nanoscale properties of lead halide perovskites by scanning tunneling microscopy
- First Published: 24 January 2021

Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) is a powerful tool to gain insight into the atomic structure arrangement at the interface and provides information on the structure-property relationship of materials. In this critical review, we highlight the current progress using STM to investigate halide perovskite thin films composed of inorganic/organic lead halides. In addition, the challenges and future perspectives are summarized.
Lead-free metal halide perovskites for light-emitting diodes
- First Published: 24 January 2021

Lead-free metal halide perovskites (LFMHPs) are emerging as one of the most promising materials for light-emitting diodes (LEDs) due to their outstanding characteristics such as nontoxicity, adjustable bandgaps, and colorful emissions. In this review, the synthesis methods and applications of LFMHPs in electric LEDs and down-conversion white LEDs are well summarized.

Two-dimensional halide perovskite quantum-well emitters: A critical review
- First Published: 03 May 2021

We critically review the key challenges of exciton losses, charge injections, and triplet issues for the light-emitting applications of low-n phase 2D perovskites, and provide a perspective on organic cation design strategies to address those fundamental issues, which may open up a new avenue to the development of highly efficient quantum-well emitters for solid-state lighting and display.
Layered metal halide perovskite solar cells: A review from structure-properties perspective towards maximization of their performance and stability
- First Published: 05 July 2021

This review addresses the structural organization of both the organic and inorganic sublattices, focusing on how the structure influences the quantum and dielectric confinement, phonons and charge carriers' dynamics, charge mobility, and structural defects. It is also discussed the relation between the structure-properties of layered perovskites with the performance of solar cells.
