  • Testosterone was positively associated with Chr17:76356190 (SOCS3) methylation in men, as well as Chr17:76356199 (SOCS3) methylation in women.
  • Chr17:76356190 (SOCS3) methylation partially mediated the association between testosterone and T2D in Chinese rural men.

Emerging technologies for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus 管理2型糖尿病的新兴技术

Highlights The use of technology in diabetes self-management and education has expanded significantly over the past few decades and offers platforms for the rapid development of patient-centered interventions to achieve optimal glycemic control. Utilization of technology has the potential to lessen patient burden by seamlessly integrating real-time feedback into patients' daily lifestyle and provide an option for review of health data remotely by care teams. We describe currently available and emerging technologies in type 2 diabetes mellitus management.

  1. Increased METS-IR and 6-year METS-IR change were positively associated with risk of incident T2DM in a rural Chinese population.
  2. We observed an association of METS-IR and 6-year METS-IR change with incident T2DM by sex, age, and baseline FPG level.
  3. Dose-response analysis revealed significantly increased probability of incident T2DM with increasing METS-IR and 6-year METS-IR change.

  • The prevalence of small vessel disease increased in young and middle-aged patients with type 2 diabetes without obvious cognitive impairment.

  • Our findings indicated that screening and preventive strategies targeting cognition might be considered to be moved forward in patients with type 2 diabetes, especially for those with diabetic peripheral sensorimotor polyneuropathy.

  • Although many studies have developed noninvasive methods as screening tools for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in adults, whether these parameters could be suitable for children has remained obscure.
  • This study evaluated whether noninvasive indexes of adults in identification of NAFLD could be used to determine the presence of NAFLD in children.
  • Our findings confirmed that the two noninvasive prediction scores, hepatic steatosis index and Zhejiang University index, could be promising screening tools for pediatric NAFLD.

  • In this cohort study, which included 1030 patients with type 2 diabetes, only log2(N-terminal prohormone brain natriuretic peptide) was significantly associated with the development of cardiovascular disease compared with echocardiography, electrocardiogram, and albuminuria after multivariable adjustment.
  • The diagnostic yield in considering more than one diagnostic test was limited in this population.
