CardioRenal Research
Submission deadline: 31 May 2025
The relationship between cardiovascular disease (CVD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) has drawn more attention in recent years, and the idea of "cardiorenal syndrome" has been promoted. The interaction between the cardiovascular system and the kidney is evident when one of the two systems fails and adversely affects the other. Some characteristics, such oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, mitochondrial autophagy, and metabolism leading to organ remodeling, are present in both chronic kidney disease and coronary artery disease. However, it is still unknown how the syndrome's pathophysiology, which incorporates complex, multivariate, and dynamic pathways, works. The diagnosis of the cardiorenal syndrome is currently made possible by advancements in imaging technologies, biomarkers, and clinical perspectives that concentrate on specific groups including those with diabetes and kidney transplant recipients. To better achieve the prognosis improvement, further exploration is needed to predict or early identify the cardiorenal syndrome, control risk factors and discover new therapeutic targets.
The goal of this Research Topic considers manuscripts on all aspects of the cardiovascular and renal interrelationship and the metabolic syndrome.
We welcome Original Research, Review, and Mini-review in the following subtopics, but not limited to:
- The pathogenesis of cardiorenal syndromes.
- Coronary artery disease and heart failure
- Acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease
- Oxidative stress in cardiovascular and renal disease.
- Nutrition and metabolism in cardiovascular and renal disease.
- Biomarkers & therapeutic for cardiovascular and renal disease.
- Imaging in Cardiorenal Syndromes.
- Epidemiology of cardiovascular and renal disease.
Keywords: cardiorenal syndrome; Acute kidney injury; Heart failure; Coronary artery disease; chronic kidney disease; Contrast associated nephropathy
