Bee Products – a Crossroads among Kingdoms

1 April 2022
22 December 2022

Impact of bee products on human health is being a subject of many investigations due to their high bioactivity. Several in vitro and in vivo studies have confirmed that bee products possess strong antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, possible anti-carcinogenic, as well as some additional health promoting properties. As a crossroad among plants, bees and humans, the chemical composition of bee products, and consequently the content of bioactive compounds and biological activity, is strongly influenced by its botanical origin and bee’s activity. Also, its final quality can be affected and manipulated by human activity. Therefore, it is important to update and fulfill missing information in scientific literature.

This special collection will present the latest research findings on chemical constituents, metabolomic profiles, pharmacological and nutritional evaluations, and action mechanism of bee products. Our Guest Editors Prof. Dr. Aleksandar Ž. Kostić (University of Belgrade) and Prof. Dr. Mirjana B. Pešić (University of Belgrade) together with Associate Editor Dr. Yuzhu Song look forward to receiving your submissions (Research articles and Reviews).
