This cover by Dongcheng Sun and colleagues is of polyurethane dispersions TEM micrographs taken at different magnifications and different areas. Polyurethane ionomers were synthesized by reactive extrusion in a twin-screw extruder and then dissolved in solvent, added water to disperse and distilled off the solvent to obtain the polyurethane dispersions which have high solid-content and excellent adhesive properties. This showed the particles shape, sizes and size distributions of the polyurethane dispersions. DOI: 10.1002/app.47719

Correlation between clay type and performance of swelling inhibitors based on polyetherdiamine in aqueous fluids

Representation of a drilling rig and different geological formations (left). Microscopy images of highly compacted clay before the contact with water (center). Clay swelling caused by water led to the occurrence of several microfractures (top right). PEDA effectively minimized the clay swelling (bottom right).

Synthesis of atactic polypropylene: Propylene polymerization reactions with TiCl4–Al(C2H5)2Cl/Mg(C4H9)2 catalyst

Addition of Mg(C4H9)2 to the Ziegler catalyst (a combination of TiCl4 and Al(C2H5)2Cl) at a [Mg]:[Al] molar ratio <0.5 leads to the formation of a highly active catalyst system for polymerization of propylene to mostly atactic amorphous polymers.
