In support of Medical Ultrasound Awareness Month (MUAM), we present a selection of papers published in AJUM over the last year that present some of the spectrum of research and expertise within our community. All articles will be free to access until 15 December, 2023 in support of MUAM.

Hill, et al compare measurements made of abdominal aorta from a decubitus ultrasound window and show high correlation with CT measurements. Rocha, et al describe the anatomical distribution of endometriosis. Hosokawa, et al present as small study suggesting that ultrasound-detected hyperperfusion within testis immediately after successful manual detorsion is useful in predicting the avoidance of testicular atrophy. POCUS is a rapidly growing area of clinical ultrasound practice and Pan, et al present a review about the role of paediatric and neonatal point of care ultrasound (POCUS). Although POCUS use is growing, there remain challenges for training and credentialling and Elsayed, et al explored the barrier to credentialling for emergency room advanced trainees and propose the development of an internal structured POCUS training programme within mandatory training time. Gupta, et al present a review about using ultrasound to diagnose orbital and ocular pathologies in children.

In addition to these full-length review and original research articles, there have been several interesting case studies also published. We invite you to take a look.
