Cryogels represent a class of porous materials able to overcome the limitations of commonly applied 2D cell culture models like agar plates by providing a three-dimensional microenvironment. Here, cryogels consisting of rhodamine B labelled polymer networks (green fluorescent) decorated with 2(methacrylamido) glucopyranose (sugar canes) were used as 3D materials for culturing L929 fibroblasts (red and blue fluorescent within the cryogel pores).
