Differential effect of gastric bypass versus sleeve gastrectomy on insulinotropic action of endogenous incretins

Endocrine action of GLP-1 (β-cell sensitivity to plasma concentration of αGLP-1) is different across the groups. Paracrine action of GLP-1 may explain the β-cell effects of DPP4i (red arrows), which is most evident in GB. Vagally mediated action of GLP-1 can be elicited in proportion to the portal vein concentration of αGLP-1.

Neuroanatomical profile of BMI implicates impulsive delay discounting and general cognitive ability

Machine learning elastic net regression models with cross-validation were conducted to characterize a neuroanatomical morphometry profile associated with BMI in young adults. The multi-region neuroanatomical signature substantively predicted BMI. Further, the relationship between the morphometry signature and BMI itself was partially mediated by impulsive delay discounting and general cognitive ability.
