Does systemic hydrochlorothiazide increase the risk of developing ultraviolet radiation-induced skin tumours in hairless mice?

The co-carcinogenic potential of the drug hydrochlorothiazide was investigated using a well-established hairless mouse model, which can develop skin pigmentation and squamous cell carcinoma when exposed to ultraviolet radiation. Hydrochlorothiazide in drinking water (0.26 and 0.52 mg per mouse per day) did not accelerate SCC development in ultraviolet radiation exposed mice.
