Laccase Immobilization Using Polymeric Supports for Wastewater Treatment: A Critical Review
- First Published: 05 March 2023

This review discusses the use of polymers as immobilizing matrices for laccase in overcoming the high production cost and low stability and reusability of the enzyme. Various techniques employed for the immobilization (adsorption, cross-linking, covalent binding, encapsulation, and entrapment) along with their implications on the wastewater treatment performance are presented.

Zwitterionic Polymer Brushes and Core-Shell Particles Based thereon for Control of Biofouling
- First Published: 09 March 2023

Zwitterionic polymers are promising materials for anti-fouling coatings. Core-shell particles with silica cores and shells of zwitterionic polymer brushes made of poly(sulfobetaine methacrylate), poly(carboxybetaine methacrylate), and poly(2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine) are synthesized to prepare robust particle layers as potential anti-fouling coatings. The influence of the surface chemistry and layer roughness on the adhesion of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus is investigated.
Enhancing High-Temperature Energy Density through Al2O3 Nanoplates with Charge Barrier Effect in Polyetherimide-Based Composites
- First Published: 15 March 2023

The high-temperature energy storage density of the polyetherimide (PEI) -based nanocomposite containing 0.6 wt% aluminium oxide (Al2O3) nanoplates significantly exceeds pure PEI. The wide band gap and nanoplates of Al2O3 nanoplates can make itself act as charge barrier to inhibit the charge migration and thus reduce the leakage current density.
Synthesis and Property of an Organosilicon Polyurethane Acrylate Prepolymer Containing Disulfide Bonds for Photopolymerization
- First Published: 27 January 2023

An organosilicon polyurethane acrylate prepolymer containing disulfide bonds is designed and synthesized; through the dynamic exchange of disulfide bonds, the volume shrinkage can be reduced from 13.9% to 4.2%. Moreover, the material also can be completely degraded by the action of tributylphosphine.
The Semicrystalline Morphology of Polybutylene Succinate Supports a General Scheme Based on Intracrystalline Dynamics
- First Published: 08 February 2023

Semicrystalline polymers with and without intracrystalline chain dynamics have been suggested to display different morphological characteristics. Combined nuclear magnetic resonance and small angle X-ray experiments measurements reveal that polybutylene succinate belongs to the class of crystal-fixed polymers without this dynamics and confirm the existence of the expected morphology.
High Ion Conducting Dobule Network Crosslinked Gel Polymer Electrolytes for High-Performance Supercapacitors
- First Published: 28 February 2023

Epoxy/PEG-based double network electrolyte (DNE) is fabricated by a thermal crosslinking process. The DNE has outstanding ionic conductivity and mechanical strength simultaneously. Compared to single network electrolyte-based supercapacitors, all-solid-state supercapacitor based on DNE presents higher energy storage ability and more stable cycle performance.
