Itch is the most common symptom in dermatology. It is also present in numerous systemic diseases, like chronic kidney disease, liver disorders, hematologic diseases, and endocrinologic disturbances.

Many patients with neurological and psychiatric problems suffer from severe itch. Chronic itch, lasting for at least 6 weeks, has a devastating effect on patients’ well-being.

This Special Issue is proposed to discuss all aspects of the vast psychosocial burden of itch in various dermatoses as well as other conditions. Special attention will be paid to secondary psychiatric disturbances such as depression and anxiety. Quality of life, stigmatization, and suicidal ideation articles are welcome. This issue will also cover such topics as coping strategies for itchy patients, psychopharmacology, and psychotherapy of chronic itch. New data has been recently published on neurophysiology of itch. Moreover, new treatment options targeting both neural and immune systems are under development for chronic itch. Therefore, we welcome articles related in general to neuro-immunology of itch and its association with skin barrier dysfunction. This Special Issue is open for original articles as well as review papers.
