Alisma orientale (Sam.) Juzep. (Alismataceae), known as ‘Zexie’ in China, is a common traditional Chinese medicine used for diuretic, anti-inflammatory, and hypolipidemic purposes, as well as the treatment of diabetes. Protostane-type triterpenoids were reported as the principal constituents of this species. Ten new and sixteen known protostane triterpenoids were discovered from A. orientale in current study.
