Cover: This volume provides a good coverage of the main topics discussed during the 11th Macromolecule-Metal Complexes Symposium (MMC-11) held in Tirrenia (Pisa) in Sptember 2005 with IUPAC Sponsorship (Macromolecular Division). The collected papers regard indeed: metal nanoparticles in macromolecular systems for information technology, optoelectronic and energy conversion, polymer supported and embedded metal complexes for catalysis, polyelectrolytes, metal containing membranes, systems for molecular recognition, and nanocomposites. Also environmental applications in heavy metal recovery and biopolymers-metal systems for diagnostics and materials (leather tanning) are described. As an example, the picture shows schematic formation processes for Bi2Te3 nanoparticles stabilized by a macromolecular environment, taken from the contribution by N. Toshima.
