Changes in Childhood Atopic Dermatitis Incidence and Risk Factors Over Time: Results From Two German Birth Cohorts
- Pages: 469-480
- First Published: 28 April 2025

Cumulative incidences of childhood atopic dermatitis (AD) up to the age of 4 and the risk factors were assessed and compared between two methodologically similar birth cohorts in Ulm, Germany: UBCS (recruited in 2000/2001) and SPATZ (recruited in 2012/2013). Over the decade, childhood AD incidence remained stable, but there may have been a growing importance of environmental and microbiota-related factors influencing AD development, that is, having older siblings at home and infantile antibiotic use.
