The research team of Hualin Chen and Keyi Ding from SMU, Yetao Wang and Bailing Liu from CIOC of UCAS have been working on the research of HBP-P in scale and metal corrosion inhibition and trying to reveal its structure-activity relationship and mechanism. Some encouraging results have been achieved in this research, showing that HBP-P has good performance and application prospect. DOI: 10.1002/app.48041

Rheological behavior and morphological and interfacial properties of PLA/TPE blends

Micrograph of surface fracture of a compatibilized PLA/TPU blend, in which TPU particles are well dispersed over PLA matrix. It is also seen the good adherence of TPU particles into PLA matrix, which is attributed to the compatibilization of PLA/TPU blend.

L-menthol-based initiators for atom transfer radical polymerization of styrene

Synthesis and characterization of two L-menthol-based atom transfer radical polymerization initiators 2-isopropyl-5-methylcyclohexyl 2-bromopropanoate (1) and 2-isopropyl-5-methylcyclohexyl 2-bromo-2-methylpropanoate (2) and use of these for successful controlled bulk polymerization of styrene using pentamethyldiethylenetriamine as ligand at 100 °C have been discussed.

Synthesis and characterization of PBTCA-modified hyperbranched polyether corrosion and scale inhibitors

As a corrosion and scale inhibitor, hyperbranched polymer can be used in water system to chelate scale ions, occupy the crystallization site, and destroy the crystal structure. At the same time, the polymer can be adsorbed on the metal surface, preventing the corrosion of the pipeline by the corrosive medium, so as to achieve the effect of corrosion and scale inhibition.
