River: A new multi-disciplinary international journal

Rivers have supported human flourishing for thousands of years, and provide societies with fresh water, transportation, energy, recreation, and many other resources. Over the recent years, it has been commonly understood that rivers not only constitute a precious resource in their own right, but are also an indispensable part of a sustainable future for nature and for human society.

On August 24th 2022, the IWHR hosted the Global River Forum, a hybrid online and in-person conference to deliver up-to-date knowledge and practices on rivers and their ecosystems and to shed light on sustainable river governance. The Forum also served as a celebration of the launch of River, a new open access journal presenting the engineering and practical applications of river systems and research on traditional water-related areas, published by Wiley on behalf of the IWHR.
