Beijing Hosts Highly Successful 5th International Pluripotent Stem Cell Conference (PSConf 2025)
From June 7th to 9th, 2025, the Pluripotent Stem Cell Conference 2025 (PSConf 2025) saw the delivery of the 5th highly successfully meeting in the PSConf series, held in Beijing Huairou Science City. The theme of the conference was “Translating hPSC research into human health solutions”.

Over 500 delegates from more than 10 countries and regions, including China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, attended the conference.
The conference was strongly supported by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the Chinese Society for Stem Cell Research (CSSCR) and the Huairou District Government of Beijing. At the opening ceremony, Academician Zhou Qi, Vice President of CAS and President of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), along with Mr. Lan Xiongjing, Deputy District Mayor of Huairou, delivered welcome addresses, highlighting the significance of this international gathering and expressing their institutional commitments to advancing pluripotent stem cell research based on the huge investment in science infrastructure continuing to grow in Huairou.
At the conference, 30 leading experts shared cutting-edge advancements in stem cell engineering, advanced analytical methods, translation to clinical and diagnostic applications, and organoid research. During the PSConf's signature 'Bridging Session'—a closed-door meeting of major stem cell organizations and networks that represents an important opportunity to foster international coordination, with representatives from eight international organizations attended this year(see list below):
International Stem Cell Banking Initiative (ISCBI)
Human Pluripotent Stem Cell Registry (hPSCreg)
International Stem Cell Initiative (ISCI)
International society for stem Cell Research (ISSCR)
The International Society for Cell & Gene Therapy (ISCT)
International Society for Organoids (ISFO)
The Chinese Society for Stem Cell Research (CSSCR)
China Alliance of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine (CASCRM)
Having identified key priorities for stem cell research in past meetings, this fifth Bridging Meeting not only expanded its membership to eight international networks but also achieved significant outcomes, that included proposals for a number of coordinated activities between the attending organizations on topics such as field-wide collaboration, stem cell resource sharing, international standards, data interoperability, and ethical governance. The Bridging meeting actively represents a major opportunity to drive sustained and accelerated progress in the field.

Over the course of the two-day General Assembly, distinguished speakers from around the globe delivered insightful presentations and shared valuable perspectives in sessions focused on experiences in translation of stem cells to the clinic, stem cell engineering, advanced analytical technologies. Participants unanimously expressed high recognition for PSConf, which has established itself as a vital platform in stem cell and regenerative medicine for fostering transnational, inter-organizational, and interdisciplinary collaboration—critical to advancing translational applications of stem cells. The location at Huairou science part brought a new perspective to the PSConf programme, allowing international visitors and delegates to understand the powerful nature of the many national infrasctructure projects brought together for collaboration in Huairou, including the new HOPE (Human Organ Physiopathology Emulation System).
Professor Hu Baoyang, Chairman of the Conference and Executive Director of the Beijing Institute of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine, emphasized that the PSConf series aims to promote a strategic cross-disciplinary and cross-sector collaboration network, that will be exemplified by the new HOPE institute at Huairou Science Park. The conference has always adhered to the principles of Consultation, Collaboration, and Coordination—the "3C" ethos,' he noted.

Initiated by the Beijing Institute of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine and jointly organized with over a dozen leading institutions including the International Stem Cell Alliance (ISCA) and the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the PSConf International Pluripotent Stem Cell Conference has established itself as a high-end global platform in the stem cell field.
The conference serves as a key collaborative hub, bringing together scientists, clinicians, industry leaders and regulators to address core challenges in stem cell research and life health applications. PSConf has become a key force in the coordination of international organizations and networks, to tackle the field's most fundamental issues.
As a leading platform for research exchange and global collaboration, PSConf continues to grow in influence across stem cell and life health sectors. The next annual meeting will be held in Beijing in May 2026.
