Announcing the American Journal of Hematology’s 2024 Young Investigator Award

Overview: The American Journal of Hematology (AJH) is pleased to announce the establishment of, and guidelines for, the 2024 AJH Young Investigator Award (AJH-YIA). The award of $1,000 will be presented at the 2024 American Society of Hematology meeting.Journal Scope: The American Journal of Hematology provides broad coverage of experimental and clinical features of blood diseases in humans and in animal models of human disease. The journal publishes original contributions in non-malignant and malignant hematological diseases including clinical and basic studies in hemostasis and thrombosis, immunology, blood banking, and stem cell biology.
Eligibility: The competition is open to clinical and basic scientists at the undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, resident, and fellow levels working in academia, industry, or research institutions. Applicants may not have more than the equivalent of five years’ full-time postdoctoral or post-residency research experience, as documented by a curriculum vitae and letter of confirmation from a supervisor, mentor, or department head.
Applications: The applicant must have submitted a single manuscript describing original work in the field of Hematology directly to AJH online and the manuscript must have been accepted for publication no later than August 31, 2024.
At the time of submission, the applicant will check a box indicating that she/he wishes to have the paper considered for this award. The applicant must be the sole or primary author of this work.
Selection Process: The Young Investigator Award Committee consists of the Editor-in-Chief and the Associate Editors for AJH. The winner will be selected among the manuscripts published in AJH on the basis of the scientific quality and originality of the work. The announcement of the winner will take place prior to the 2024 ASH meeting.
Time frame: To be considered for the 2024 AJH-YIA award, a manuscript must be submitted to the AJH website in time for reaching an acceptance decision between September 1, 2023 - August 31, 2024.
