In common rhinological disorders such as chronic rhinosinusitis, health-related quality of life and outcome measures related to interventions are key factors in allowing clinicians to understand the challenges in delivering therapeutic interventions and in knowing how effective these are. In the era of evidence based medicine, demonstrating the disease burden and improvement in quality of life from effective interventions is paramount. This virtual issue of Clinical Otolarynology highlights nine widely cited papers that we have published recently which have considered these issues in detail. The issue will be informative to rhinologists and the wider ENT community, in addition to patients, researchers and policy makers with an interest in outcomes in rhinological interventions.
