The BSAVA awards recognise outstanding contributions in the field of small animal veterinary practice. They give the veterinary profession's unsung heroes much deserved recognition during the award ceremony at BSAVA Congress. The Journal of Small Animal Practice presents two annual awards for best paper which are chosen by the journal’s editorial board.
Dunkin Award
This award is presented to the first named author of the best original research article published in JSAP in small animal medicine during the 12 months ending 30th September. Eligible papers include all aspects of internal medicine, cardiology, and oncology, in addition to the medical aspects of neurology and ophthalmology.

Melton Award
This award is presented to the first named author of the best original research article published in JSAP in small animal surgery during the 12 months ending 30th September. Eligible papers include all aspects of anaesthesia and surgical aspects of neurology and ophthalmology.
