Die Kombination von Molekül-Molekül-Wechselwirkungen mit Wechselwirkungen zwischen Molekülen und einer Silicium-Oberfläche führt zur Bildung eines großflächigen 2D-Netzwerks mit verbesserter thermischer Stabilität (bis 400 K). Das wabenförmige Netzwerk fungiert als Templat für eine lockere hexagonale Anordnung von Fullerenen bei Raumtemperatur (siehe Bild).
