Ich seh' rot! Das zellgängige DEAB-TO-3 bindet in die kleine Furche von DNA und zeigt auch in Gegenwart von RNA eine Selektivität für Doppelstrang-DNA. Außerdem wird die rote Fluoreszenz der Verbindung durch das Bindeereignis deutlich verstärkt. Daher ist DEAB-TO-3 ein aussichtsreicher Kandidat für den hoch empfindlichen DNA-Nachweis in vitro sowie für die Bildgebung von Zellkernen und die DNA-Quantifizierung in vivo.
