Ein zurücksetzbares Logiksystem auf der Grundlage von Spiropyran-modifizierten Goldnanopartikeln kann AND-, OR- und INHIBIT-Operationen ausführen, wobei die Analyse der Ausgabe durch das bloße Auge, UV/Vis-spektroskopisch, anhand des ζ-Potentials oder mit dynamischer Lichtstreuung erfolgen kann. Die Logikgatter eignen sich außerdem zum Nachweis von Kupfer(II)-Ionen in wässrigem Medium.
