Beachtlich universell: Der chirale trigonal-bipyramidale Al(salalen)-Komplex 1 wurde synthetisiert und als Katalysator in der enantioselektiven Hydrophosphonylierung von Aldehyden mit Dimethylphosphit getestet (siehe Schema). Dies ist der erste Fall, in dem ein molekularer Katalysator sowohl aromatische als auch aliphatische Aldehyde mit Enantioselektivitäten über 80 % ee umsetzt.
