Promising Pharmacological Interventions for Posterior Capsule Opacification: A Review

This study focuses on the pathogenesis and potential treatment of posterior capsule opacification (PCO) and summarizes the mechanisms through which drugs, microRNAs, and currently investigated clinical therapies prevent epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). The findings indicate that the small mother against decapentaplegic (SMAD) pathway plays a crucial role in effectively addressing EMT. Through these research directions, it is believed that effective treatments for PCO can be developed in the near future.
