The assessment of segmental healing by the Modified Mayo Endoscopic Score (MMES) complements the prediction of long-term clinical outcomes in patients with ulcerative colitis

Current endoscopic scoring systems for ulcerative colitis do not consider the extent of mucosal inflammation. The modified Mayo endoscopic score (MMES) was developed to detect segmental endoscopic improvement. Patients with segmental endoscopic response showed superior long-term clinical outcome as compared to patients without endoscopic response.

Recent trends and risk factors associated with Clostridioides difficile infections in hospitalized patients with inflammatory bowel disease

Rates are higher in patients with UC than with CD and patients without IBD. Rates of CDI were increasing but have declined since 2015. CDI is associated with increased comorbidity, public insurance, urban teaching hospitals, and larger hospital size. CDI is associated with increased mortality.
