Pro-Oxidant Influence of Quercetin Supplementation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Quercetin causes oxidative damage to yeast cells by affecting the leading powerhouse of the cell (mitochondria), which is counteracted by inducing protective defense molecules such as the antioxidant systems.

YlRax1 and YlRax2 Play a Partial and Functionally Interdependent Role in Regulating Bipolar Budding in the Yeast Yarrowia lipolytica

YlRax1 and YlRax2 play important but nonessential roles in the bipolar budding of Yarrowia lipolytica, and they are dependent on each other regarding localization and function.

A Key Role of the EMC Complex for Mitochondrial Respiration and Quiescence in Fission Yeasts

We used the Seahorse analyzer to accurately measure oxygen consumption rates in S. pombe cells. The analysis reveals that the universal EMC complex, a membrane protein chaperone/insertase that aids the biogenesis of membrane proteins in the ER, is required for mitochondrial respiration.
