Aims and scope

Advanced Gut & Microbiome Research is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research and review articles related to all aspects of fundamental and applied research on gastroenterology, microbiology and their interactions. Advanced Gut & Microbiome Research aims to provide an open platform for academic exchanges to explore new discoveries and open up new ideas. Topics of particular interest within the journal’s scope include: 

  1. Gastrointestinal diseases and their extra-gastrointestinal effects: mechanisms, immunology, new targets, diagnosis and treatment (stem cells, nanotechnologies, etc.), epidemiology.
  2. Profiling gut microbiota with multi-omics including metagenomics, metabolomics, metatransprotemics, metaproteomics, culturomics, immunoomics etc. 
  3. Precision nutrition for health including, but not limited to, dietary patterns, nutrients, bioactive components, future foods and various microecological regulators such as probiotics, prebiotics, synbiotics, postbiotics, and psychobiotics. 
  4. Gastrointestinal microbiota-pathogen interactions and novel microbiota-targeted therapy development in anti-pathogenic microorganisms such as multiple resistant bacteria, virus, fungi, and parasites.
