The emerging field of Extracellular vesicles (EVs) has dramatically changed in the last fifteen years. EVs are now considered important carriers for communication between cells and tissues through the exchange of RNA, proteins, lipids and even DNA. EVs studies were initially dominated for the cancer biology field, but in the last ten years they are recognized as critical players that mediate communication under a variety of physiological and pathological conditions.

The aim of this Special Collection is to present studies focusing on the mechanism of how EVs contribute to the cell communication during normal development, cancer and infectious disease.

For this collection we welcome review and research articles, highlights, commentaries, critique and perspectives that cover, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • EVs produced by healthy cells versus transformed, diseased, or damaged cells
  • EVs from pathogen modulating host interaction and communication
  • Proteins, RNAs, and other cargos
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic potential

The submitted manuscripts for this Special Collection will be peer-reviewed. Please consult our Author Guidelines before submitting.
