Overview

Annals of Applied Biology is an international journal owned by the Association of Applied Biologists.

Aims and Scope

Annals of Applied Biology publishes novel and rigorous research on applied biology in the broad context of sustainability in biosciences. Our goal is to share groundbreaking science to a wide international audience, advancing our understanding of how an organism grows and/or interacts with the natural environment, biotic or abiotic factors and responds to man-made growth modifiers. We especially welcome hypothesis-driven research using either theoretical or experimental approaches to answer key questions of general interest to our broad readership. The journal covers, among the others, the fields of: Agronomy, Agroecology, Animal health and welfare, Applied horticulture, Applied plant pathology, Biodiversity including the interaction with both wildlife and farmland animals, Biotechnology, Biotic interactions, Cropping and the environment, Integrated pest management, Pesticide application, Plant physiology, Postharvest biology, Soil science, Tree/ Forest biology and Traditional and new breeding technologies,

Average time from submission to first decision is just 8 days!

Submission of manuscripts to Annals is exclusively via a web-based electronic submission and tracking system at:
https://wiley.atyponrex.com/journal/AAB enabling rapid submission to first decision times.

Before submitting a paper for publication in Annals of Applied Biology, potential authors should first read the Author Guidelines. Instructions as to how to upload your manuscript can be found on Research Exchange.

Annals papers must contribute substantially to the advancement of knowledge and may, among others, encompass the scientific disciplines of:

Agronomy
Agrometeorology
Agrienvironmental sciences
Applied genomics
Applied metabolomics
Applied proteomics
Biodiversity
Biological control
Climate change
Crop ecology
Entomology
Genetic manipulation
Molecular biology
Mycology
Nematology
Pests
Plant pathology
Plant breeding & genetics
Plant physiology
Post harvest biology
Soil science
Statistics
Virology
Weed biology

Annals also welcomes reviews of interest in these subject areas. Reviews should be critical surveys of the field and offer new insights. All papers are subject to peer review. Papers must usually contribute substantially to the advancement of knowledge in applied biology but short papers discussing techniques or substantiated results, and reviews of current knowledge of interest to applied biologists will be considered for publication. Papers or reviews must not be offered to any other journal for prior or simultaneous publication and normally average seven printed pages.

Author benefits include:

Online manuscript submission and tracking
Fast, efficient refereeing of manuscripts
No page charges
Rapid publication
Abstracts of papers published on the AAB website prior to publication as a finished issue
