Aims and Scope
Published on behalf of the Agricultural Economics Society, the Journal of Agricultural Economics is a leading international academic journal, providing a forum for research that applies the discipline of agricultural economics to key issues confronting the food and agricultural sector. Those issues include, but are not limited to, food security and nutrition, farm level performance, rural development, international trade, environmental impacts, land use and climate change. The journal’s core focus on economics is complemented by insights from other disciplines including the physical sciences, statistics, business management, ecology, politics, history, psychology and sociology.
- A leading journal for the discipline worldwide – consistently highly ranked in the Agricultural Economics & Policy category of ISI
- A dynamic, international, applied social science journal dealing with agriculture, food and related industries, rural development and the environment
- Articles on developments in research and methods of analysis as well as the application of existing methods and techniques to new problems and situations
- Fast turnaround: average of 47 days from submission to first decision
Each issue of the JAE contains articles, notes and book reviews as well as information relating to the Agricultural Economics Society. Published three times a year, it is received by members and institutional subscribers in 69 countries. With contributions from leading international scholars, the JAE is a leading citation for agricultural economics and policy. Published articles either deal with new developments in research and methods of analysis, or apply existing methods and techniques to new problems and situations which are of general interest to the JAE’s international readership.
Two categories of articles are published in JAE, Featured Articles and Submitted Articles. Featured Articles are solicited by the Editor-in-Chief and Co-Editors, and typically involve either a critical assessment of methods used to address a central issue or a review of the empirical evidence on a topic of major concern. In addition, we welcome proposals from Society members for Featured Articles and for mini-Special Issues containing three to four papers on a theme of interest to the Society and the agricultural economics profession more widely. The expectation is that mini-Special issues will typically evolve from a Symposium at the AES’s Annual Conference or the annual AES–DEFRA one-day conference. Enquiries on potential contributions should be directed to the Editor-in-Chief ([email protected]).
