IFORS is an international organization of national societies whose primary objective is the advancement of Operational Research. Its aims are the development of Operational Research as a unified science and its advancement in all nations of the world.

The site is also a central portal for access to the regional societies and contains information on contacts, regional activities and membership costs.
There are two kinds of IFORS membership:
(1) Full membership - established national societies whose primary object individually is the advancement of Operational Research
(2) Kindred membership - any organization interested in Operational Research or in the activities of the Federation.
