Overview

Journal for the Theory of Social Behaviour advances understanding of people acting, interacting and communicating in the social world of other people, institutions, and material and symbolic culture.

The Journal publishes articles that challenge theoretical assumptions, develop productive theories, or translate those advances into innovative methods for research.

We welcome articles from any relevant field such as psychology, sociology, communication, social policy, management, philosophy and anthropology.

Aims and Scope

Journal for the Theory of Social Behaviour publishes original articles that feature conceptual, rather than empirical analyses, of theoretical and methodological issues relating to social behaviour.

Contributions are published that:

(a) advance the literature on theories and methods;

(b) critique existing concepts, theories and methods;

(c) analyse philosophic assumptions of the social sciences;

(d) integrate insights and theories from multiple disciplines;

(e) review, synthesise and evaluate research trends.

The Journal does not publish articles that: are principally empirical; focus on non-social behaviour; lack interdisciplinary appeal; are purely technical; ignore situated human agency; or that fail to make a substantive contribution to theories of social behaviour.
