Fuel Cells

The ICFCHT-SFCHT 2023 is an international joint conference focused on the fusion of multiple fields and applications related to fuel cells and hydrogen technology, with an emphasis on materials and systems held in Malaysia on September 5th-6th, 2023. ICFCHT-SFCHT 2023 aimed to bring together scholars, researchers, scientists, practitioners, and students in the fuel cell and hydrogen technology field to discuss new developments, concepts, practices, and field experiences, as well as to identify future research needs and technological advances. The conference covered topics such as Fuel Cells for Mobile and Stationary Systems, Hydrogen Technology, Materials, Life-cycle Analysis & Circular Economy, and Miscellaneous (including green technology, renewable energy, nanotechnology, and other related fields). The manuscripts of this Topical Issue are related to this conference and were selected by the Guest Editors Dr. Swee Su Lim, Dr. Wai Yin Wong, Dr. Mimi Hani Abu Bakar and Dr. Ali S. A. Muhammed.

The EFCF conferences in series continued with 27th edition of the European Fuel Cell Forum with a focus on Low Temperature Electrolyzers, Fuel Cells & H₂ Processing, and for the first time alongside with the 5th International Microbial/Enzymatic Electrochemistry Platform Symposium (MEEP2023), taking place between 4 - 7 of July 2023 in Lucerene, Switzerland.
The 27th edition of the European Fuel Cell Forum with the motto ‘Integration’ provided a global overview of the current ECFC technology developments within a well-balanced program, covering technology development and scientific achievements, from fundamental research to the latest achievements in terms of demonstrations.
Also, for the first time the 5th International Microbial/Enzymatic Electrochemistry Platform Symposium (MEEP2023) was held together with the EFCF forum. The MEEP2023 symposium covered topics such as microbial biofilm functions, electron transfer mechanisms, novel materials and bio-hybrids, multiscale mass transport, and scale-up challenges.

Fuel Cells - From Fundamentals to Systems publishes on all aspects of fuel cells, ranging from their molecular basis including theory and with molecular processes at catalyst surfaces and microscopic processes in membranes to their application in systems such as power plants, road vehicles and power sources in portables. It includes electrochemical energy technology as in energy conversion and storage with batteries, supercapacitors and electrolytic processes. Fuel Cells is a platform for scientific exchange in a diverse interdisciplinary field. All related work in chemistry, physics, materials science, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering is included.

The EFCF conferences in series continued with the 15^th European SOFC & SOE Forum (EFCF2022), taking place between 5-8 July 2022 in Lucerene, Switzerland.
Although an European based event, the forum has evolved to the largest international event and leading meeting place in Europe. The 2022 edition was also a special event, due to the international context, related to the European Commission's “RePowerEU” plan to save energy, produce clean energy and diversify energy supplies in the context of the war in the Ukraine.
The 15^th European SOFC & SOE Forum provided a global overview of the current SOFC & SOE technology developments in a well-balanced program covering technology development and scientific achievements, from fundamental research to the latest achievements in terms of demonstrations (https://www.efcf.com/2022).
