Special Collection on microbiome and biofilms in wound healing

Host-microbe interactions are ubiquitous in the context of cutaneous wound healing. Microbial biofilms are known to contribute to delayed wound healing while the composition of the microbiome has been associated with a multitude of clinical factors, including healing outcomes. In this special collection, we bring together work covering a broad spectrum of microbiome research ranging from the role of biofilms, and pathogenic and commensal microbiota in acute and chronic wounds to diagnostic and treatment approaches.
