Radio Access Technology
Summary
This chapter provides detailed insights into 5G radio access technology. It includes the data rate evolution from 3G to LTE and toward 5G radio access technologies. The chapter considers waveform, access technologies, massive MIMO, and channel coding and provides frame and numerology design for the 5G system with multiple frequency layers (Sub 1 GHz, sub 6 GHz, and mmWave,) as one system. The chapter also explains detailed physical layer channel structures with necessary features and functionalities. Furthermore, the chapter will also provide the complete radio protocol design of the 5G radio access.
