Abstract
Dimethyl fumarate, C6H8O4, crystallizes in the fully stretched planar conformation. The molecule is located on a crystallographic inversion centre and has local symmetry 2/m. The fumarate molecules aggregate in layers coinciding with the (11) lattice planes.
