Abstract

The Ames/ Salmonella mutation assay is the most widely used test to determine whether chemicals can cause genetic changes (mutations) potentially leading to cancer. Chemicals related to industry, farming, foods, drugs and the environment have been discovered to be mutagens with this simple assay.
