Correction to the article “Study of the Villin Headpiece folding dynamics by combining coarse-grained Monte Carlo evolution and all-atom molecular dynamics”

We wish to point out that the “Material and Methods” section (pages 460–463, Figs. 1 and 2, and Table II) and the final summary paragraph of our article in Proteins 2005;58:459–4711 reproduces material that appeared in 2004 in the Journal of Physical Chemistry B2 (and almost exclusively related to the accompanying online supplementary methodological material). The analogy of the above-mentioned technical parts reflects the common methodology of the two studies, which otherwise have different scientific focus, content, and scope. In particular, the short letter2 outlines the spirit of our combined coarse-grained/atomistic approach and its ramifications in structure prediction, while Ref.1 presents a detailed analysis of the resulting putative folding and misfolding pathways of the Villin protein. We apologize for the omission of Ref.2.
