Abstract

Media education is a didactic activity aimed at imparting critical information to young people and at developing their understanding of the nature and categories of media, the techniques they employ to construct messages and produce meaning, and specific genres and languages. Media practices that can be applied to the educational field will continually change with the evolution of new technologies. The latest technological success story is that of the metaverse, which connects humans to the Internet by going beyond the concepts of virtual and augmented reality. In the metaverse people in the physical world can interact with avatars and virtual objects. The metaverse encompasses the variety of virtual experiences, environments, and resources (platforms, video games, apps, etc.) that expanded and strengthened during the period of suspended normal life during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in professional and school environments. Participating in a history lesson or webinar via Zoom is a starting point for learning about educational metaversality.
