Bloc Recruitment
Abstract
Bloc recruitment refers to the process through which sets of people, already organized for other purposes, get attracted to a new collective enterprise. This is basically a reformulation of the classic argument about the role of networks in facilitating mobilization. The additional advantage offered by bloc recruitment is that the recruitment effort is considerably lower, inasmuch as it builds upon the trust relations, mutual obligations, and consolidated routines that exist between the members of an already established and operative group.
