Abstract

The genetic structure of human beings comprises the physical template which all development across the life span is based upon. Our genetic endowment is intimately related to not only normative development but also to the etiology of a variety of medication conditions experienced by social work clients. This chapter reviews the fundamental principles of genetic theory to provide the social worker with a introductory level of knowledge relating to genetics and human behavior across the life span and within the social environment.
